RIVI participates in the OPTIMAR project

OPTIMAR FRONT COVER

OPTIMAR FRONT COVEROPTIMAR FRONT COVERGrupo Técnico RIVI collaborates closely with a multitude of companies to work together to build a responsible business ecosystem that advances towards a more efficient and sustainable world. This is why it is directly involved in the OPTIMAR project.

 But what is OPTIMAR?

Within our R&D projects we participate. The project OPTIMAR is a initiative collaborative venture that brings together technology companies and research organisations. Its mission is clear: to develop advanced digital solutions for optimising operational efficiency, maintenance and energy integration of the floating offshore wind farms. Grupo Técnico RIVI is experienced in providing solutions to cope with the most difficult climatic conditions and hostile environments, and this is where we can do our bit.

Can you imagine offshore wind farms operating at their full potential, with less downtime and higher energy production? The OPTIMAR project is designed to optimise the operation and maintenance of these offshore infrastructures. Its main objective is to ensure higher asset availability and a significant increase in annual energy production (AEP).

This is achieved through:

  • Non-intrusive and advanced monitoring: Continuous monitoring of the status of wind turbines without interfering with their operation.
  • Predictive failure algorithms: Anticipation of incidents for proactive maintenance, thus reducing downtime.
  • Secure data management with AI: Use of Artificial Intelligence for dynamic and secure information management, with a strong focus on cybersecurity.

What are OPTIMAR's objectives?

The main objective of the OPTIMAR project is to optimise the O&M, availability and AEP (Annual Energy Production) of offshore wind farms through non-intrusive monitoring, design of a predictive failure algorithm and security of data spaces with artificial intelligence (AI).

  • Objective 1: To research and design intelligent, non-invasive monitoring solutions and advanced algorithms hosted in secure sovereign data space, based on acoustic, lidar, machine vision, temperature and vibration information.
  • Objective 2: To study new correlations of variables and operational parameters of offshore wind turbines that are acquired through non-invasive monitoring technologies, allowing to digitise and optimise the O&M, AEP and life extension of each asset.
  • Objective 3: Investigate and design predictive failure algorithms and maintenance strategies for each subsystem (float, tower, blade, turbine) that are capable of determining relevant technical-economic indicators that improve machine availability levels and annual energy production.
  • Objective 4: Research and design data space technologies capable of active management of data from sovereign clouds, offering strict levels of protection through cyber security with trusted AI and distributed logging technologies applied to the cyber security of communications between the different elements, as well as trust in data exchanges.

We work to keep the world turning.

In short, OPTIMAR researches non-invasive smart sensors and develops state-of-the-art algorithms. These analyse acoustic, LiDAR, machine vision and vibration data from safe environments, boosting the efficiency and resilience of wind farms. In the process, RIVI will deal with provide solutions to ensure their performance and durability even under the most difficult conditions.
